You booked the mini session. Now what? I created this guide to help you prepare clothing in the coming weeks.

The setting of the Motherhood Minis will be minimal. There will be a white backdrop with a chair or bench to utilize. The studio is very bright and airy with lots of natural light! For the session you can really go casual or dressy, whatever fits your vision the most. Also feel free to go barefoot as we will be indoors and sometimes that just feels right :)

STYLE TIPS:

  1. Pick clothing you are confident and comfortable in. Always. It should fit right and feel good.
  2. Stick to neutral colors. My favorite colors to photograph would be beiges, tans, creams, burnt and olive greens. You can never go wrong with these.
  3. AVOID: neon and bright un-natural colors
  4. STICK TO: soft, neutral versions of colors
  5. Coordinate colors and styles of clothing, but do not go matchy-matchy. Let everyone show their own personality in what they wear.
  6. I suggest selecting 2-3 coordinating colors and build the looks around that. (Pinterest is a great place to go)
  7. Avoid putting siblings in the same outfits- instead put them in different shades of the same color. or completely different looks
  8. We want variety!
  9. Pick your outfit first, then build the rest of the looks off that.
  10. If you are doing patterns, only have 1-2 patterns total across all of the outfits.
  11. AVOID: small and close together stripes, patterns that hurt your eyes, tiny checkered patterns
  12. SAY YES TO TEXTURES!
  13. Accessorize! Play around with hats and jewelry.
  14. Dress babies and toddlers in clothing for movement.
  15. AVOID putting babies in dresses if they will be held most the time. Their diaper will show in the photos. OR get them a cute romper or cover to go over the diaper.
  16. Remove all scrunchies from wrists and phones and keys from pockets.
  17. Have fun with accessories! Feel free to wear hats if they reflect your style.
  18. The sessions are indoors and if you'd like to all be barefoot, GO FOR IT! it adds a relaxed element to the images.
