One of the most fun parts of doing family photos is picking out the outfits, am I right?! I also know it can cause some stress. I am here to help! I created this quick guide to help you as you plan and shop for your family looks this fall.
GENERAL TIPS
- Give yourself ample time to raid your closest or shop. Prepare at least a week in advance and have everyone try their looks on before, checking for both comfort and coordination.
- Coordinate and complement one another, but avoid matchy-matchy outfits.
- Neutrals and colors found in nature always photograph the best. No matter the season or location, you cannot go wrong with cream or tan.
- Avoid neon colors, bold prints and patterns, super bright colors, and logos.
- Moms, pick your outfit first and create the rest of the family looks off that.
- Long maxi or midi dresses photograph beautifully! If this is your style, go for it!
- If it's not something you are comfortable in, avoid it. Pick outfits you feel flatter you and bring confidence.
- Stick to no more than two patterns across the entire family. This will help avoid the prints and patterns taking over the images and becoming distracting.
- Dress appropriately for the environment your session is taking place in. At home session- avoid wearing shoes. Session in the woods- avoid stilettos.
- Show your style and have fun with it!
